As the first woman welder at Sasol, I go around speaking to learners about the career Opportunities out there

This initiative is rooted in My desire to give back to the community and to contribute positively to the future of young people. Many learners have potential but limited exposure to career opportunities and role models in fields such as engineering, science, technology, construction, manufacturing, and other technical professions.

Through these talks, I aim to:

- Motivate and inspire learners to believe in their abilities and future
- Provide clear and practical career guidance linked to STEM and technical fields
- Share information about available opportunities, requirements, and career pathways
- Encourage discipline, positive decision-making, and long-term goal setting

I do sessions that are interactive, age-appropriate, and aligned with the realities faced by learners in our communities.

Cost and Community Support:

I would like to clearly state that we do not charge any fees for delivering these talks. This is a voluntary community service initiative aimed at empowering the youth and supporting education.
I kindly request that:
- relevant stakeholder (petrol or arranged transport) depending on the distance and location
- Where schools are far from our base, basic accommodation for one night be considered
- I am seeking permission and support to conduct motivational and career guidance talks for local high school learners in the communities. The focus of these sessions will be on STEM-related careers, particularly in male-dominated fields such as mining, engineering, science, technology, and related industries. My aim is to expose learners—especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds—to the wide range of opportunities available to them and to clearly explain how these opportunities can be accessed, including subject choices, bursaries, learnerships, and career pathway

This initiative is offered at no cost. We do not charge for conducting the talks, as our primary objective is community upliftment and investment in the future of young people. However, we would kindly request assistance with:

- Any promotional or educational items your team may be willing to donate or give away to learners (such as stationery, branded items, or educational material)

The number of learners, schools, and resources required can be discussed and agreed upon once the areas and schools to be visited are confirmed.

All logistical arrangements can be discussed openly and agreed upon beforehand, taking into account the circumstances of each school.

Value to the Community

This initiative supports the municipality’s efforts in:

- Youth development and empowerment
- Education and skills awareness
- Keeping young people positively engaged and focused
- Building hope, purpose, and direction among learners

I strongly believe that investing time and guidance in young people today will help build a stronger, more skilled, and more responsible community tomorrow.

Thank you for your time, consideration, and continued commitment to the development of the youth

About Rising Star

The Rising Star Programme, operated by BlackBark Productions, has been established for the purposes of recognising, celebrating and connecting young talented people who have a capacity for achievement and success and who contribute in an inspirational manner to the future of our nation. The qualities that elevate Rising Stars to the top go beyond performance and technical excellence. Rising Stars are polished, brilliant individuals with tremendous promise and great talent who excel for reasons that go far beyond their technical abilities alone.

Talented people make things happen, are highly committed to achieving goals, innovate very rapidly, and create a great deal of value (for companies and/or themselves) when their talent is spotted and harnessed.

The Programme aims to be a significant and sustainable vehicle through which organisations, our country and our continent can identify and nurture these “organisational and national assets” who are set to play a key role in shaping the future of our country and our continent.

 PRIVACY POLICY

The Rising Star Programme is establishing a living community of young African talent that will be developed, mentored and provided with platforms for development and communication, therefore enabling them to become role models, opinion leaders and the inspiration for other future African Talent.
