My passion for creating tangible impact is rooted in empowering teams and driving meaningful change through collaborative leadership. As a Board Member for the Chemical Engineering Department at Vaal University of Technology, I inspire students and faculty by bridging academia with industry needs, actively shaping curricula, facilitating internships, and opening pathways for graduate employment. This role allows me to motivate the next generation of engineers through visible mentorship and a genuine belief in their potential, fostering a culture of aspiration and excellence.
Within my roles, I have consistently rallied colleagues toward ambitious goals through optimistic engagement and structured support. While managing the maintenance strategy for Sasol’s fuels research facilities, I gained buy-in from operators and technicians to adopt new digital tools, improving compliance and equipment uptime. By recognising their efforts and providing clear, practical training, I cultivated a shared sense of ownership, turning a procedural update into a team-driven improvement.
I also lead by example during challenging periods, such as plant shutdowns or tight project timelines. At Sasol Chemicals, I voluntarily coordinated cross-shift communications and safety briefings to maintain morale and focus, ensuring that complex tasks were completed safely and efficiently. My ability to remain composed and forward-looking under pressure helped others stay engaged and productive, reinforcing trust and collective resilience.
Beyond day-to-day operations, I proactively seek opportunities to amplify impact through thought leadership. I have authored strategic articles on energy transition skills and represented EWSETA in public forums, using these platforms to advocate for inclusive and sustainable industry growth. By consistently connecting purpose with action, I strive not only to achieve results but to inspire those around me to contribute with equal passion and clarity of intent.

About Rising Star

The Rising Star Programme, operated by BlackBark Productions, has been established for the purposes of recognising, celebrating and connecting young talented people who have a capacity for achievement and success and who contribute in an inspirational manner to the future of our nation. The qualities that elevate Rising Stars to the top go beyond performance and technical excellence. Rising Stars are polished, brilliant individuals with tremendous promise and great talent who excel for reasons that go far beyond their technical abilities alone.

Talented people make things happen, are highly committed to achieving goals, innovate very rapidly, and create a great deal of value (for companies and/or themselves) when their talent is spotted and harnessed.

The Programme aims to be a significant and sustainable vehicle through which organisations, our country and our continent can identify and nurture these “organisational and national assets” who are set to play a key role in shaping the future of our country and our continent.
