Please provide examples of how you have shown responsible engagement in your career | |
| I have demonstrated responsible engagement throughout my career by consistently grounding my work in integrity, collaboration, and a deep respect for the people affected by my decisions. Alongside my corporate role, I regularly advise NGOs and early-stage technology startups, helping them navigate legal, governance, and ethical challenges in a way that balances compliance with sustainability and social impact. I am particularly mindful of confidentiality, transparency, and power dynamics when working with resource-constrained organisations, ensuring advice is practical, ethical, and empowering rather than extractive. For the past five years, I have served as the lead attorney for the Students for Social Justice UCT Legal Clinics. In this role, I work closely with student volunteers and community members, fostering psychological safety, mentorship, and shared accountability while delivering responsible legal support to vulnerable clients. I have continued this work even after transitioning out of a formal legal role, reflecting my long-term commitment to service and ethical responsibility. Across all my roles, I collaborate across disciplines and sectors, build trusted networks, and engage stakeholders with empathy and humility. My approach to leadership emphasises inclusion, wellbeing, and collective problem-solving to create outcomes that are both effective and socially responsible. |
