| I have prioritised building trust, acting with integrity, and supporting others to achieve collective goals. In my role as a Currency Integrity Investigator at the South African Reserve Bank, I frequently work across teams and with external law enforcement partners. I ensure that information is shared responsibly, while maintaining confidentiality, so that colleagues can make informed decisions and collaborate effectively. For example, during a high-stakes investigation into a counterfeit currency network, I coordinated with multiple departments, facilitating open communication and problem-solving while respecting the sensitivity of the data involved. I also actively support and empower colleagues. I make it a point to listen to their challenges, provide guidance, and check in regularly to ensure they have the resources and confidence to succeed. By clarifying what decisions they can make independently, I encourage autonomy while remaining available for support, which fosters a psychologically safe and productive environment. Beyond internal collaboration, I am involved in external initiatives that promote social impact and community development. I have participated in youth leadership programs and professional development workshops, sharing my expertise to create meaningful opportunities for others. Recognising and celebrating the contributions of my team is also important to me; I provide positive feedback and offer stretch opportunities to encourage growth and development. For me, responsible engagement is about acting with integrity, valuing people, and contributing to outcomes that benefit both the business and the wider community. By balancing ethical responsibility, collaboration, and empowerment, I have been able to support both organisational goals and the growth and wellbeing of colleagues, while creating a positive and sustainable impact in the work I do. |
