Please provide examples of how you demonstrate systems thinking and sense-making ability in your career (Approx 100-300 words) | |
| I demonstrate systems thinking by understanding how people, processes, and outcomes are interconnected, and by making informed decisions that consider the broader organisational context. In my role, I regularly work across multiple business units, leadership teams, and external stakeholders, which requires me to see the “whole system” rather than isolated activities. When planning and delivering events and programmes, I consider how strategy, resources, stakeholder expectations, and organisational culture interact. This allows me to design initiatives that support broader business objectives, enhance collaboration, and create sustainable impact rather than one-off engagements. By forming cross-functional committees, I intentionally connect different parts of the organisation, enabling alignment, shared ownership, and smoother execution. I also demonstrate strong sense-making ability by translating complex technical and scientific outputs into clear, meaningful narratives for diverse audiences. Working closely with technical divisions, I analyse research results, identify what matters most to customers and stakeholders, and structure information in a way that is accessible and relevant. This process helps decision-makers, partners, and the public understand not just what the work is, but why it matters and how it fits into the larger value chain. In addition, I use feedback mechanisms and stakeholder insights to identify patterns, evaluate impact, and continuously refine approaches. By connecting data, feedback, and context, I am able to make sense of complexity, anticipate challenges, and support informed decision-making that benefits both the organisation and its stakeholders. |
