| Since joining Mintek in 2023, I have emerged as a creative force in science communication and events management. My approach to event design is rooted in the principle that events are not just gatherings, they are strategic storytelling opportunities. Whether it’s through immersive programme design or my hallmark use of high-impact video storytelling, Boitumelo ensures that Mintek’s achievements are not merely reported, but experienced. These experiences whether by event, written word or video content are crafted to spotlight real-world impact, often featuring individuals whose lives have been transformed by Mintek’s work, turning abstract science into relatable human stories. In 2024, I played a pivotal role in launching the inaugural Mintek–SCi Young Researchers Symposium, overseeing every element from concept to execution. Reflecting on its importance, she says: “When young minds stand up to share their breakthroughs, they’re not just presenting research, they’re shaping the future. Giving them a stage is giving innovation itself a voice.” She is also leading Mintek’s first-ever Hackathon, set for October 2025, where graduates will collaborate to develop innovative solutions for the minerals industry. In both cases, she designs these platforms to be more than events—they are narratives in motion, advancing Mintek’s strategic story of innovation and societal impact. |
About Rising Star
The Rising Star Programme, operated by BlackBark Productions, has been established for the purposes of recognising, celebrating and connecting young talented people who have a capacity for achievement and success and who contribute in an inspirational manner to the future of our nation. The qualities that elevate Rising Stars to the top go beyond performance and technical excellence. Rising Stars are polished, brilliant individuals with tremendous promise and great talent who excel for reasons that go far beyond their technical abilities alone.
Talented people make things happen, are highly committed to achieving goals, innovate very rapidly, and create a great deal of value (for companies and/or themselves) when their talent is spotted and harnessed.
The Programme aims to be a significant and sustainable vehicle through which organisations, our country and our continent can identify and nurture these “organisational and national assets” who are set to play a key role in shaping the future of our country and our continent.
The Rising Star Programme is establishing a living community of young African talent that will be developed, mentored and provided with platforms for development and communication, therefore enabling them to become role models, opinion leaders and the inspiration for other future African Talent.
