| My ability to practice systems thinking and sense-making is rooted in consistently stepping back to analyse the interconnected nature of challenges and opportunities within the energy landscape. At EWSETA, I synthesise complex inputs, from global energy policies to local economic shifts into cohesive skills strategies. For instance, while developing a sector skills strategic plan, I integrated analysis of international hydrogen strategies with South Africa’s Just Energy Transition framework, ensuring our approach addressed both future industry needs and socio-economic impacts. This holistic view enables proactive rather than reactive planning. Furthermore, I actively seek diverse perspectives to deepen my insight. Serving on an academic advisory board, I engage with educators, students, and industry leaders to understand the evolving competencies required in chemical engineering. These dialogues, coupled with attentive listening during stakeholder consultations, allow me to perceive underlying trends and unspoken challenges, transforming fragmented information into strategic foresight. By continuously connecting micro-level operations to macro-level trends, I ensure that decisions are informed, integrated, and impactful. |
